Reading Partnerships

Expectations:

• Partners become a force for good in another reader's life.

• Partners pay attention to each others reading histories, reading interests, and reading hopes.

• Partners do some "on-the-run" writing, (post-its) to bring to the conversation.

• Partners read the same books often, either in sync or swap.

• Partners sit beside each other during reading workshop.

• Partners will choose how they will work together. They set goals and select books to read together.

Ideas To Support Partner Talk:

• Partner talk happens inside readers workshop.
• Partners talk to grow ideas.
• Plan, to avoid problems while reading in sync.
• Have a mid-workshop interruption to prompt partner talk.
• As you become more proficient at growing ideas, your stamina will grow requiring you to allot more time for talk.
