Alphabet

Fist appearance of the Alphabet in 1,800 BCE was a combination of symbols in the region of the Mediterranean Sea which was adapted by common use in trading. The first symbol was that of an ox head 'aleph meaning "ox". Invert the letter A and imagine it as the head of an ox. Beth, which meant "house". Another good example is the sound /am/, represented by the symbol of water and called mem or "water".
